[부정사]

· “소망동사의 과거 + 완료 부정사” : ~했어야 했는데 ···하지 못했다. => want, hope, wish, intend, promise, expect

hoped to have p.p = had hoped to V

-> I hoped to have seen her at that time. = I had hoped to see her at that time.

 

➁ 부정사의 태

- 능동 부정사 We like to admire children.

- 수동 부정사 Children like to be admired.

 

 

6. 부정사의 관용표현

- “had better + R” : ~하는 편이 낫다.

 

- “cannot but + R” : ~하지 않을 수 없다.

 

- “do nothing but + R” : 오로지 ~하기만 하다.

 

- “would rather + R” : 차라리 ~하는 게 낫다.

= would sooner + R = had rather + R = prefer to + R + rather than + (to) R

= prefer + 명사 + to + 명사 = prefer + 동명사 + to + 동명사 ex) The general would rather die than live in dishonor.

 

- “All + 주어 + have to do is + to V” : ~가 해야 하는 것은 ~뿐이다.

 

- “All + 주어 + do is + (to) V” : ~가 하는 것은 ~뿐이다. ex) All I did was (to) encourage him.

 

- “All + 주어 + need is + to V” : ~가 필요한 것은 ~뿐이다. ex) All he needs is to break the eggs.

 

- “come(get, learn, grow) + to V” : ~하게 되다. ex) Long before I learned about your music, I came to know about you.

 

- be동사 + to부정사

· 의무 : “-해야 한다” ex) All employees are to comply with workplace safety standards.

· 예정 : “-할 것이다” ex) Mr. Kim, a new manager, is to meet his team members this afternoon.

 

 

7. to부정사를 대신하는 가주어, 가목적어

– To R~ + V + 형/명 ex) To be a good person is hard.

= It + be + 형/명 + to R ex) It is hard to be a good person.

 

– S + V + to R~ + 형/명 ex) I found it difficult to ride a horse.

= S + MBCFTI동사 + it + 형/명 + to R~ ex) I think it difficult to master English.

=> make, believe, consider, find, think, imagine.

 

 

8. to부정사의 관용적 표현들

be about to R	막 –하려 하다.	so ~ as to R	매우 –해서 –하다.
be apt to R	-하는 경향이 있다.	to be frank with you	솔직히 말하면.
be free to R	자유로이 –하다.	to make matters worse	설상가상으로.
be likely to R	-할 것 같다.	too ~ to R	너무 –해서 –할 수 없다.
be ready to R	-할 준비가 되어 있다.	used to R	-하곤 했다.
be sure to R	반드시 –하다.	Why not R?	-하는 게 어때?
be willing to R	기꺼이 –하다.	would rather R	오히려 –하고 싶다.
enough to R	-할 정도로 충분히 –한.	the last man to R	-할 사람이 아니다.
had better R	-하는 것이 더 낫다.	be cut out to R	-하기로 되어있다.
have no choice but to R	-하지 않을 수 없다.	come to R	-하게 되다.
cannot but R = cannot help -ing	-하지 않을 수 없다.	in order to R so as to R	-하기 위해
